DIY

Hunter Galloway: Jamestown, Rhode Island

This is the first of three prints I developed myself over the Thanksgiving break at the Darkroom in Merchantville, NJ. To get this one print took about a month. First of all this is from a roll I shot in July/August while visitng my Dad in Newport Rhode Island. To see this image appear on the paper after putting it in the devloper bath was magic. I can't really describe how gratifying it was to see the final result. In this day & age of digital everything people often forget the photographic process. From developing the negatives, to getting the right exposure time on the enlarger, to putting the final print through the chemicals, gave me an appreciation for photography. Nothing like forgetting about a photo, then months later see it on the negatives.

Quote of the Month

Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible.

No Noon

Some time ago,
a cross eyed man stopped in the middle of the street,
glancing at his watch he realized it was high noon but the sun
was nowhere to be found.

he looked down and saw
streams of parallel lines;
again he looked down,
and again the lines ran with each other.

horns blared, traffic was stopped.
in the middle of the land stood a middle aged man
staring at the ground.

these lines mapped the sun
as the cross eyed man stopped and stared
at the cross walk.
