hands behind the back

on a solo trail
your neck muscles haven't been
functioning as they once did
laces untied, mumbles fall to the floor.

nervous hands fumble with directions.
shoes that have roamed up and
down the east coast.
no destination, no time frame.
a deadline can't become
the hostage.

she said the sky was yellow,
I could hear her nervous
eyes looking for an answer,
something to get away.

vacant fields hold treasures
for minds at ease,
I've been sifting and sifting,
yet to see the horizon of the human mind.

east meet west,
sky meets road.
shoe laces drag,
but I've got somewhere to go.

I've been slacking for a minute, but that is due to this piece of work. This book is the final project for my photography one course at Rowan. 158 pages of things I have seen over the last two years. The whole experience of making a book can be chalked up next to learning to stand on a skateboard, developing film for the first time, and getting into higher education. To hold a piece of work that spans two years and is your own gives off such a rewarding feeling. Enjoy!
