a grocery store romance

The weight of Earl's tone fell heavy on his skin, it sank. Sank through his pores, through his wrinkles, through his muscle and fat. Sank so far he could feel it in his gut.

"Hey says Earl, you see me, but can't see me."

"Ya know what I says ta him? I says, Bill, get the fuck outta my sight, that what I says ta him!"
